in this case why not just buy a touchscreen and use it with an on screen keyboard

As most people already have a tab just cast from pc to tab as second screen enable touch and open virtual keyboard then drag keyboard down to tab monitor. also it can be opened split screen with other programs like main monitor only everything can be done on the tabs touch screen

Sure, this keyboard is a pretty shitty keyboard for a gamer. But it has its place. A casual artist, an office worker that wants a unique niche keyboard. 🤷‍♂️

It would be cool if we could 3D print different covers and make custom keyboards. I’d love to be able to use this as a basic midi controller and as a steno keyboard

Aesthetics-wise. This is amazing. Functionality-wise. Its fucking dogshit.

Seems like it might be useful for any touchscreen games if you can use it as a touchscreen. Like mobile or DS games requiring touching parts of the screen 😮

Is the screen mapable?

I think their real market for this should be as a competitor to the elgato stream deck instead of a regular keyboard to type on. Then later they could release extra keycap overlay layout things to make macro pads with different clusters/groupings of buttons, larger/smaller buttons, a cutout section to touch the screen directly to use a portion of it like a laptop's touchpad while the rest is still buttons, or whatever else people could think of.

This could be a dope stream deck. Add layered shortcuts and commands with unique icon.

Can you use it as a trackpad

They'll feel the broken lcd tax if those aren't bolted on and have a good protective bullet/gamer rage proof casing.

This is gonna suck.

No doubt another unaffordable product that will be commonplace in a decade.

This will be perfect if it has paper ink display, that will make ot more user friendly and power efficient and obvious will have the ability to modify

Cool concept but I don't see myself using something like this. If they can get the feel of they keyboard press right, it might be viable for some people.

Okay I WILL SAY - if the future of technology is to just use touch controls for everything (I'm looking at you, car dashboards), I think the integration of tactical controls that overlay the screen is a clever accessibility feature

But then we get into the difference between using third party ones which won't keep up with the UI design as good as the first party ones which will undoubtedly be more expensive, then you've got the longevity of them which may result in having to swap them out, and they most definitely will only be compatible with the right models, but then there's the "oh let's market it as a safety feature cuz you dont wanna have to look at the screen while driving" so they upsell it even MORE - and so you're paying for a more expensive touch controls AND add ons when we could have just had normal buttons in the first place—

The idea is bad until you think in ergonomic terms where each finger and gesture can be personalized, I think it will still give many good ideas.

this will only be successful if they actually enable massive customizability for specific custom game console where the regular keyboard isnt doable. latency probably gonna be sh.t but id buy one if it has something to offer

'Niche' is a nice way of saying unnecessary existence.

Perhaps if they could work macros into it too. soo its a keyboard, screen, and like a stream deck. If they could adjust the size wether that be a bigger/smaller display or just physical wieght and adjust the ergonomics. I can see it finding a niche.

The entire point of having a keyboard is being able to fill the keys but with this keyboard you can’t do that, most people don’t really look at the keyboard at all and memorize the layout. Just by feeling around the keys, with this keyboard you don’t get that feeling. So you’re constantly having to look down to see what key you’re pressing, that’s not fun.💀

Another super cool benefit is the ability to just, have a keyboard for any language.

Maybe it would be cool if it was the keyboard like this, then if you want to use it as a screen you can unfold it to a more normal size screen.

i want it in thinner version, as thin as apple keyboard, no screen, just touch capatitive keyboard!!!

I dont like this being an independent IoT device. This needs to be a type C display and it NEEDS to have a top of the line digitizer for 10+ key presses simultaneously.

Id love to use the touchscreen unlockable keyboard skins from steam with this, or the win11 custom touch keyboard.

This is a VERY novel and niche keyboard. I hope it finds the audience it deserves, it seems it has already. But I do think it needs some more work put into it.

I do think for a regular everyday typing experience this is tricky one. This could be good if they continue to work on the keycap, and I hope they do. As of right now, the thoughts expressed in my video pretty much states how I feel about this.

They did say they are working on a final version of the “keyboard tray” and I would be interested to see that before I personally would buy it.

I also dabbled with changing settings like the background video and the animations off stream. It was simple enough, albeit a bit tedious. It’s really just dropping files into the keyboard and labeling them accordingly.
