How did I start FFXIV you ask well it’s very simple. My brother was excited when Heavensward was about to be released and he told me about the story of the game to that point and that’s all I knew about the game was just the story, then I said “Wow that sounds cool. Sucks I can’t play cause I have no money for a subscription.” Then my other brother just bought me the game/subscription and yeeted me into FFXIV! Still a male Au Ra player to this day! XD

Staying sane in this game is:
Be a roe. Or elezen. But roe.
Stay out of (L)imsa Lominsa. It's ugly, it has too many levels, it's cumbersome for anything but the marketboard. Ul'dah is a far nicer home. The Grand Company is close to the main Aetheryte and you can port directly to the MB and bell from the main Aetheryte so you're actually even closer than in Limsa. You also sidestep the degeneracy.
That being said if you're into listening to midi concerts. Limsa is where it happens.
