I would say it’s a sad situation that he is a real life Dante Hicks(if he was a Nazi) who can’t shit or get off the pot. He clearly has a lot of mental health issues and self hatred for his situation. But he’s not intelligent enough for me to care. He’s not even interesting enough to make me sick.

This is such a small point in the video, I know, but it's so odd to call Doom Eternal too complicated. Yes, there are a lot of different weapons and ammo types and stuff to keep track of, but if you want, you can pretty much just brute force the game with only one thing. The parts that require you to switch are not even as wild as Zelda puzzles I have seen. It's just a really self-reporting take. It's one thing to say "I don't like the game" but to specifically complain about its complexity is a little pathetic.

Unfortunately I knew someone in high school who was in a similar state; literally ten years after graduation, he has sadly not evolved much. This classmate was (and still is) in a dark mental place: depression, anxiety, paranoia, distrust of medical institutions and -- especially in high school -- additiction. I briefly reconnected with him, having got the impression he was in a better place (he isn't), and shortly after I had to put my foot down and cut him off because his old habits of blaming everything and everyone before looking inward revealed themselves. I called him out for that behavior -- literally said up front "ok, time for some tought love" -- and, drawing on m own experience with mental health struggles, explained that there comes a time where you can't keep blaming the world for everything going wrong for you. I will not repeat the guilt trip of a response he had, but he did not receive said call-out well. As much as I didn't want to be yet another person "leaving him," I'd just had major surgery on my wrist at the time (just to fit the occaision) and did not have the bandwidth to deal with his darkeness. That was three years ago. The thing about this former classmate is that, unlike DD's subject, he at first seems pretty normal, if a little eccentric; he seems to have a grasp on, y'know, women, queer folks and POCs are autonomous people and deserve human rights -- but that very quickly gives way to "I'm going to be alone forever because women never like short guys." (He's about 5' 5", for the record, and if not for the darkness inside, actually not a bad-looking dude.) Here and there I hear about him, and he has not grown since we parted ways. I hope he gets the help he needs and grows into a better person, but I cannot be part of that journey.
