This is horrible advice. If you don't feel comfortable with the DAW you're using, make a list with prices, watch some videos, go try the DAW at a shop. Just like buying an instrument, sometimes it's not the right shape, sound, or you outgrow it. If you can release the product code from binding with you computer or account then resell the software on Ebay. Many programs have trial versions or monthly subscriptions. Don't get stuck using something you don't like, it will destroy your creativity. Remember, without trying something new, you can't grow.

I can tell you exactly why I'm dumping Reaper. No in-built sample library. ReaSamplomatic 3000 is a fucking joke. No way to import samples. Useless unless you're a techie. Miserable experience. Thousands of tutorials up on the net. Forums. Not a damn one even gets close to such a basic question as : "How do import samples into Reaper?" It's for experienced DAW users. What I need it ain't got. Pure and simple.

Thanks for helping me make up my mind. So much indecision about which DAW is better. I'm just going to go with what I've learned. It's good enough. I'm sure I can make the same music that's in my head, no matter what DAW I use.

I have an old Tascam FW1024 should I stick to it? I got it with a tower that has XP and Reaper, Ableton 8 on it....should I stick? I am new to recording and are on a budget. Any advice appreciated.

I learned on Pro Tools, used Digital Performer for quite a while and then migrated to Cubase because it came with an interface I purchased. Pretty sure I’ll be switching back to pro tools or digital performer I never have enjoyed cubase.

Bought Ableton because of my Windows laptop. Now I’m getting a mac and go back to Logic. The way it works just makes more sense to me.

What is the best sounding interface to go with that DAW?
Im finding some don't sound so good, kind of thin.
My best sound is Alan and Heath analog mixer into old Alesis Adat HD , then into Logic or whatever?

I wish my DAW had even the slightest amount of respectable documentation. Most of what I know either came by accident or through a wild “what-if”. The frustration level is blinding, but I’m figuring it out and will turn my attention to educating others.
