Thanks for keeping it real. The other day I saw a similar challenge there, but the drummers were simply the dudes that work for that channel, and it was objectively unimaginative and pedestrian, at best. And yet, everyone in the comments just decided these people were geniuses because they did a 4/4 over a song they’d never heard before … I think I sometimes underestimate how many people I interact on the jnternet with are half my age or younger.

love your honest commentary. noticing when he's overcomplicating but also when he has good execution. a lot of people say he did well which I thought at first too but after actually watching II play it, it is actually very sloppy (which of course is expected). some people even were bold enough to say that greyson's version was actually better which I just thought was absurd. but he did amazing for how cryptic the drumless track must sound for a song like this where the guitar and bass sound very confusing without the drum's context

When you watch the full video you see how pissed he was at some certain points. In the end he did everything very well to me because everything he did fits and the song is very hard to play to.
I heard that he was a little offbeat sometimes but he managed it very well. I didn't know him until this video and for me he's a genius drumming his ass off. Don't forget: He listened to a drumless version, so I'm sure that's the reason he used the double bassdrum so often because he heard this typical metal guitar riffs.
He was also very hard to hiself. Like he recognized at the end he should've enjoy more drumming instead being pissed off😂

For me he has no feel for djent/progressive metal groove whatsoever. Double time the whole way? Drum and bass verse parts. Desecrated an amazing song
