After wasting all my lunchmoney for three weeks into this arcade, my partens bought me a C64 with this game. So the money was not totaly wasted.
Poorly the C64 Version was very much easier - especialy the mushroomboss spawned fewer smal shrooms.

I wish part 3 would have been modelled on this game. This is the best wonder boy ever, it's fun finding hidden doors, coins etc. This game is FUN, that's how a game should be FUN!

There's an MMA fighter called Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson.

So what I was thinking is to make a Romhack called Wonderboy in MMA Land where instead of Sword, Shield, Boots and Armor, it's MMA gloves (Sword), Training Pad (Shield), Shoes and Training Gear (Armor).

Instead of Monsters, it's other fighters from MMA.

Lucky Guy, you almost die and take the revival from the monsters.....

I believe, i still have this game on my Amiga 500.
I had it on my Commodore 64 as a tape version,
but it was dissapointing 😹.
The Amiga version of this game is cool,
but the arcade version seems much better 😺👍🕹️.

Have now looked at some Wonderboy to adore, apparently nobody knows the trick, now I'll just write it in the comments.
In the Sphinx Round, where the spikes are and you keep getting gold, you have to stand exactly on the groove. So look a few millimeters from the edge in the direction of the spines. Always shortly before a piece of gold touches the third last spike, you have to jump and stab at the same time. If you do it accurately enough, you get 68 gold for every gold piece!

I loved this game but it never made any sense as an arcade game for making money. One of the best games of the 80s.

Any game that rewards this kind of player behavior (staying in a single place and farming enemies repeatedly for points) clearly has some problems with its design.

hello, what rom do you use?? original rom is the japan version and time is recover with new scene in castle... personally i play wbmlb, the english bootleg(bad traduction in text but it doesn't matter)..

3 of us could complete this in our local arcade, quite the badge of honour, good memories, thanks for the upload
