The fact that this is an issue is dumb , Apple’s exclusivity is part of the hype of the device. If you start opening up to open source then it loses its ecosystem’ one of the main reason’s people stick with them for years’ . Don’t like it get a different brand . The hype is a fact why you want an iPhone in the first place and the EU is trying to tear it down. Don’t get me wrong , appreciative of the force for USB-C but when it comes to the security of my phone, and the prevention of Scammers having access or being able to create backdoors through ‘trusted’ app downloads etc … I’ll take the hype any day . There are so so so many scammers , we don’t need another way to be targeted.

The whole point of this should have been so that Apple couldn't monetize.. they're still charging 27%.. the "security" cry from Apple is a complete farce, doesn't this mean that they should lock all apps down so that you can only download them from the app store on their Macs?.. I should be able to install what I want but should have been the whole purpose of this.. instead everything still has to be approved by Apple even if it is on a "third party app store party app store"

It doesn't even hinder security because it's an option people have to do in order to get the app stores long as you don't download them you're fine as secure as you ever were
