QNAP QTS - BACKUPS & Backing up to External Drives : GUIDE

thank you for the easy to follow tutorial! I was stressing about how to back up my NAS but solution found.

Thank god for this. Simple and straightforward - was nervous as hell, but all sorted now.

Firstly, thank you for a simple and to the point tutorial. This method is 100% on point.


Is this the only method available (i.e. Creating individual singular 'Folder To Folder' sync/backup jobs) or is it possible to in some way or form create a singular job to backup the whole NAS(local) to External drive?

This is a great and helpful video, HOWEVER, you’re backing up a huge QNAP with assumingely terabytes of storage to an 8TB external drive. I’m trying to justify the purchase of an external drive for my 6-bay unit but how could I possibly backup all this storage to an external drive that will quickly fill up (without purchasing another NAS or server).

But can the data in the external HDD be read by Windows directly?
