From what I understand these two knots are different. The taut-line hitch has less friction that the midshipman's hitch. I think what you are showing is the midshipman's hitch.
Can we use the midshipman's knot to replace a turnbuckle if that is the only solution?

What was demonstrated was the midshipman's hitch--not taut line. For TL, the second turn would go through the loop a second time AWAy from the standing end. in Midshipman, it goes TOWARDS.
