Probably one of the best commercials of the 1970s. Classic. Glad you posted this, thanks for taking us on a trip down memory lane! 😉😄 I have a very random S.A.U. related question for you. Would you love to see/hear "Quest"'s Sharon spike Jacquie's orange juice with Quaaludes in nod to the infamous Heather Webber LSD storyline on GH?
ОтветитьThis is one of my all time favorite commercials. I was 4 years old in 1976 and I knew the lyrics perfectly.
ОтветитьCharlie was a great scent.
ОтветитьI hope y’all will reply to this Charlie is still being made
Ответитьsing nggae topi putih koyok pak u'ul hehe
ОтветитьThe Great Bobby Short on piano
ОтветитьThanks for this - I remembered all the words! But don't think this was the original ad in UK.
ОтветитьSome reason this commercial breaks me down. It's because of Mr. Bobby Short singing. i was 5 when this commercial ran. I remember watching it with people who aren't here now.
ОтветитьREVLON CHARLIE.EASY BREEZY COVER GIRL.CALIFORNIA PRINCESS.THANH DUONG.CIA
ОтветитьBetter times.
ОтветитьI love the advert, although I'm not so sure the product was very good. I liked the way she flung her hat to that guy, then signed into the book and whirled around the room hahahaha what a way to make an entrance.
ОтветитьLove this version. Bobby Short’s voice is so strong and rich. Did our vocal chords change or something because no one sings like this now? Wish we did.
ОтветитьI remember the lyrics
kind of hip, kind of now,
kind of chic kind of wow
Came here because I actually found this fragrance at Burlington's today. 🥰
ОтветитьPaulie: “And they call it….. CHAALIE” 😂
ОтветитьHeheheheheheh
ОтветитьThis is the Bobby Short version, not Mel Torme
ОтветитьThe greatest smelling perfume ever. Only Chanel No.5 comes close.
ОтветитьWhen you see Shelley's face in this commercial, did anyone imagine the "Charlie's Angels" theme was playing instead of the jazz tunes (with all due respect to Bobby Short) 😊
ОтветитьSomebody had the brilliant idea that the "Charlie Perfume Girl" would be great to cast as one of "Charlie's Angels." But it's one thing to do a breezy thirty second commercial with no dialogue and quite another to perform in an hour-long crime drama.
ОтветитьSoooo classy
Especially Bobbie Short
No torn rip garbage jeans here
Lol
I was vacationing in New York I’m the 90’s, and one night decided to stop by the Cafe Carlyle. I didn’t have a reservation or the money for an evening there, so I just stood behind the glass entrance looking in, just so o could get a glimpse of the great Bobby Short entertaining the elegant room. At some point, Mr. Short noticed me watching from his vantage point, and gave me a big smile. It made my night, and I never forgotten it.
ОтветитьWish Shelley Hack was the beauty queen like Miss USA
ОтветитьEven these commercials of the 70's give us an idea of how great times were back then and how bad, times have gotten since then.
ОтветитьI was three in 1976, and I'll never forget this TV commercial!
ОтветитьShelley Hack..became one of 'Charlie's Angels'...go figure
ОтветитьWow! This character has the embodiment of what I think of Audrey Hepburn!
ОтветитьWhat a great time it was growing up in the 70's
ОтветитьWeird, this advert popped in to my head, 1976 I was 16.
ОтветитьKinda wow!
ОтветитьSure, it's only a commercial but Shelley Hack just exudes confidence & style, unlike today's overweight blobs in sweat suits and pajamas, sucking on a 1000 calorie drink.
ОтветитьAn original fragrance. Come now, Charles. You ok by yourself. You are ok, solo. I miss you cutting my hair. I gave you a sword! Use it! Use it now!💯
ОтветитьHow many hair flips can one woman do in a commercial
ОтветитьComposed by William Eaton, Ralph MacDonald and William Salter who are also responsible for Where is the love, Mister Majic, Calypso Breakdown and Tradewinds.
ОтветитьCharlie's Enormous Mouth
ОтветитьDo they still make the original Charlie perfume. I remember buying it for my mom for Christmas with help from my cousins at Caldor. I sure miss the smell but I mostly miss mom who passed in 2023. It never seems real.😢
ОтветитьDon’t know why I thought of this old commercial. I remember as a boy giving Charlie to my mother for Christmas, probably about the year of this commercial.
ОтветитьI was 17 when this was on TV. I was already into Jazz at the time so this really caught my ear.. during that era. There were a lot of TV shows and even cartoons that had jazz themes. What a great time, huge influence on me I ended up as a Jazz player and working on TV commercials.
ОтветитьFZ brought me here. Kinda young kinda now.....
ОтветитьI could see him doing “Ding Dong the Witch is dead” like in Naked Gun 2.5 😊
