Walking is utilitarian. We, as a society, look down on utilitarian things. There is no money in having people walk - just the opposite . Tracking your walking is the only real money maker.

Obviously it is best to not have headphones on when you are out walking because you should be concentrating on your surroundings (especially in the countryside) where it is beneficial to tune into nature sounds.

Thinking of 'easy,' 'lazy', or 'default' as reasons why elevators and escalators are always most accessible isn't necessarily accurate. It's comfort. We search for comfort in almost everything we do. From food to movies to hobbies to movement, we want pleasure in life. And that pleasure and comfort is killing us.

I had started my daily 1.5km walks of about 2 months ago. I have gone from 78kg to 76kg and have more energy for my day. I will be changing my route to a 2.3km walk tomorrow.

This is how God solved Elijah's depression in the bible...Elijah wanted to die and God just made him walk, eat and sleep for a while and he got better.

They've just found an older skeleton / missing link than the one in Africa, so it may not have been such a long walk FROM Africa after all...

When I started walking I stopped procrastinating, dressed smarter, ate healthier and felt positive. So it had positive mental effects, where as before I was depressed had to take medication and had counselling. The cherry on the cake was I lost a lot of weight.
