Darren, you're an Absolute Legend Mate! The Missus ( Bassist ) likes to have a big Low Bottom End ( He He ) whilst experimenting with crazy Noisy Fuzz n Whammy effects on top. You've explained it perfectly. Thank you so much....Any complaints from the neighbours I'll send your way ;-) Love the channel n your overall vibe btw, Hope yer don't mind me saying that even though tho I'm a guitarist :p
ОтветитьGreat video!!! So... Stomp XL owner here, I can split in 2 chains using the split crossover function... I use 5 string basses, around 200/250 as a value could do the trick then??? Chain 1 with direct signal (compressed, ok...) and chain 2 with distortion when needed, chorus and a bit o reverb
ОтветитьI absolutely love the way you explain how a crossover works.
ОтветитьYou sound like Ali G!
ОтветитьTop
ОтветитьGreat sounds and very helpful. Thanks!
ОтветитьThis is good info. I plan to give it a go. Thanks!
ОтветитьGreatVid , split crossover sounded brill and I'll be trying to replicate on my Kemper
ОтветитьThank you for explaining the different signal split capabilities of the Helix!
ОтветитьI bought a Boss GT1000 core and the same principles than the Line 6 can be applied in order to split the signal...but the crossover split works in a different way in the Boss. It's a y-split by default and you can set different splitting frequency to every channel or just one of them (it's a Low/High cut actually) . Besides this, the cut frequencies are fixed in several points.
It's less flexible than the Line6 but it works too
very helpful im new to the Helix products and actually somewhat new to Bass Dont let the 7 basses fool you lol. Really I am new. So right now i use a Mesa Subway D800+ and Cab great amp alone and I also run a Dark glass Compressor and Alpha Omega with it. Simple right? Well now I have a Helix HX Effects I'm trying out from a local shop I deal with a lot hence the 7 basses they like me there haha. Anyways What Helix product would be best suited to my needs of getting my compressor use the Omega used i found with the HX Effects was tricky to do a bit as i had to give up my effect loops so i could run to different paths to two different devices. AMP being one interface or FOH would be the other. so right now to kinda get around this i put the Omega in the out to AMP and the compressor before the HX effects. With Model like stomp or XL or eve the LT would there be a better way to achieve this ideally id like the Darkglass Pedal in both signal chains in the send chain I was a cab sim and effect My D800 I want more for a monitor or just working in new songs and keep it clean. Any thoughts suggestion or a point in the right direction would be very helpful .awesome video and yes i defiantly stuck to the end it was very informative
ОтветитьThank Darren for the time you take to help us all.
Really, really useful.
thanks for sharing this, keep the good work
ОтветитьHey dude. I'm really interested in getting something like this set up. I've been going back and fore between the helix setup and doing it with a KMA Tyler and stomp boxes. Which would you recommend? I already own a chorus, comp, SansAmp BDDI and a fuzz/distortion.
ОтветитьOutstanding. DaZ
ОтветитьWell done! I can’t find a chorus I like, always gets too muddy. A crossover split should fix me right up. And I have had similar issues finding a distortion that doesn’t get fizzy and kill my low end. Solid edit and content!
ОтветитьAWESOME VID DAZ!!!! Informative (even for a dumbass drummer like myself) and a bit of cheeky humour thrown in. What is anything without a bit of a laugh right?
The freq-split method makes lots of sense, coming from a sound engineer stand point. Little discerning effect happens under the 250Hz mark, so yeah, keep that shit clean and bassy and FX up anything above... you get your effects and that sweet sweet bass, to quote you.
Keep em coming!
