Thank you for watching our Hassio video! Do you think Home Assistant is worth using in your household? Why or why not?
ОтветитьThank you for a very informative and clear instructional video. I have a few comments as a relatively newby to Linux and Unraid in particular having used all flavors of windows since the original Windows For Workgroups many years ago. For a number of years I used Windows Home Server which while limited did what I needed at the time but of course eventually support stopped. Recently, after losing a lot of data for the upteenth time and restoring from various expensive cloud backup storage systems I decided to teach myself some sort of server setup, having tried a number of paid for and opensource offers I finally settled on Unraid. After several false starts and equipment upgrades I finally have a simple Unraid Setup containing 2 Parity drives, 1 NVNE solid state cache drive and 16 Array drives. My last error was not reading and listening to the available information properly and not understanding properly how the Parity, Array, Cache and Group drives are used adding all my spare drives to a "pool" group and nothing to the array. I had copied over about 10TB of data before I realized after watching another "how it works" video. I re-installed and changed the setup placing most of my spare drives into the array. So, this should be a warning to all Unraid Newbies out there. I am currently struggling with finding the best solution to my ISP providing a Dynamic WAN IP address, I tried purchasing a new router and putting the ISP provided Hub into modem mode but was unable to get my new modem to connect to the Internet so after setting things back I am trying to decide which is the best Unraid software solution to maintain a static WAN IP address or keep Cloudflare updated with the changed IP address. There are lots of things I hope to try running on my Unraid Server, Home Assistant, a Web server etc. What to me anyway would be a Video discussing the best order in which to install and setup a range of additional systems on Unraid such as Home Assistant etc.
ОтветитьDo you happen to have a guide how to pass throught bluetooth to the HA VM?
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьThanks a lot for this video I wil install it tonight. And as a much general comment, thanks for all your video :-)
ОтветитьFor your information:
If you are uploading a file to Unraid in an share that is not exported to windows (Like the domain share) and you are running the Dynamix File Manager plugin you can transfer the files to Unraid using the unraid explorer. It is a little slower buy if you are only going to one file it may be an option. However if you want in a folder you would need to build the folder structure by hand before uploading the file
Morning. Did exactly what u did and HA is working but didnt get Supervisor option when installed. Any assistance will be welcomed.
ОтветитьHeads up to all. Once you initialised your HA setup, you are unable to make Any changes to the VM. You're not able to pass through a device (USB controller in my case) and you certainly can not relocate the image to another location on your server. I learned my lesson hard today when migrating my installation from ssd to nvme. Had to start over 😔
ОтветитьWith this method, how can i access to data ? and how to update to new home assistant version ? just change the .vmdk and this will load the old data with new image ?
ОтветитьI have tried installing a few times using VMDK and qcow2 (different versions - 6.5, 6.4, 5.13) and am constantly getting stuck for hours on "Preparing Home Assistant" startup screen.
Any suggestion to overcome this?
Awesome video as always! Quick question, since you're running Home Assistant as a VM, how easy is it to update? Do I need to always download the latest VMDK file?
ОтветитьThe KVM image seems to be a much better option (at least for me). The performance is night and day different. I would recommend giving it a look :)
ОтветитьAny reason to prefer VMDK over KVM?
ОтветитьQuestion @IBRACORP! How did you access or setup the file explorer to transfer files in unraid? I'm on a fresh build and after you boot unraid, login to the root and setup array I don't see any option or easy way to transfer files in or out of unraid. New user spoiler :)
ОтветитьI'm getting boring now.... Big thumb...... again..... !
I had a fully working HA VM with DuckDNS anyway and watched this just to see the NPM implementation.... I followed your other videos and swapped my entire docker list from Swag..... and then upgraded my Nginx/Cloudflare from Full to Full(strict)...... 9 out of the 10 work Proxy's work fine..... HA being the only exception :( ....... The address resolves internally but not externally so I guess my problem lies in my pfsense router... any thoughts on where to look? ATB paul
Love your video's. Helping me out a lot, never thought of running hassio in a VM :D
ОтветитьAgain, a super nice video. Certainly an added value for the unraid community. I'm a ha core docker user, but for who wants the full package this is the way to go!
ОтветитьAlso, if you could do a video on Guacamole , with NPM that works be amazing lol
ОтветитьHey bro. Sent a donation your way. I really appreciate the work you doing, please keep it up!
