2008 Australian Grand Prix | Round 1/18

It was More Dramatic more Chaotic races more entertaining more Incidents more overtaking more battles more crashes more action more incidents and overtaking just better races.

Drivers making more mistakes and teams.

And 2008 was more competitive than 2007. The teams were closer on performance.

ITV went well overboard with the Lewis Hamilton stuff this year, even with the intro and ad break idents 🤣🤣

Fernando Alonso finished 4th from 11th on the Grid.

It was good seeing Raikkonen go straight on way to deep on the brakes.

Nick Heidfeld finished 2nd from 5th on the Grid.

Nico Rosberg finished 3rd from 7th on the Grid.

Kazuki Nakajima finished 6th from 13th on the Grid.

It was a Brilliant drive by Sebastien Bourdais drove his socks off he was running in 4th place from Starting from 17th on the Grid! Until his Ferrari Engine blew! And it was his Debut Race!

3 laps from the end could of finished 4th from 17th on the grid on his Debut Race.

Good drive Alonso.

Williams performance would drop off later in season.

I remember Timo Glock accident shunt quite spectacular to see he went over 2 bumbs ran wide and caught some air. Massive shunt

Kimi Raikkonen didn’t do as well in 2008. He was qualifying badly was the problem.

I enjoyed 2008 more than 2007 better races more action packed races and more overtaking.

Nick Heidfeld would finish 2nd, 4 times in 2008.

Mark Webber did a good job in 2008 in a Red Bull car that was off the pace.

One piece of potential drama that these highlights didn't show was Fernando Alonso nearly running out of fuel. The timing of the second deployment of the Safety Car came at the worst time for him. He was due to pit when the Safety Car was deployed for the Massa and Coulthard accident and the Renault team could only advise Alonso to save fuel and hope it was enough to keep enough fuel to pit when the pit lane opened. The communication between the team and driver made it abundantly clear:

"Fuel Mixture 3, Fuel Mixture 3, save fuel, save car. Save as much fuel as you can, save as much fuel as you can Fernando,"

Lots of cars out in this one in the end!

And Massa didn't seem to like turns 1 & 2 in Melbourne.

Totally undriveable car for Kimi Raikkonen's driving style.
You can even hear Brundle comment on the massive amounts of understeer in the car when looking at onboards.
Should have been an easy title win for Kimi.

There was more driving errors in this race alone than we get in half a season now. Sometimes F1 looks kinda too easy for the drivers nowadays.

Nico Rosberg had 2 Podiums this season 3rd in Australia, 2nd in Singapore.

Nick Heidfeld has the most 2nd places in F1 without a win.

2007 was such an amazing year in F1. One of the best ever. 2008 never had the same "vibe" for whatever reason.

Went Brilliantly Perfect for Hamilton in this Race he said the Car was excellent Pole Position and Race win. But in Malaysia it would be much more difficult Hard Difficult Frustrating Race for Hamilton. In Bahrain it would get a lot worse.

Smooth sailing in Australia wouldn't be in Malaysia or Bahrain Especially Bahrain. Hard Difficult Frustrating races for Lewis compared with Australia. 5th in Malaysia, 13th in Bahrain,

Wouldn't go well for Lewis in the next 2 races.

Things went perfect for Lewis. Heidfeld 2nd, Rosberg 3rd, Alonso 4th, Kovalainen 5th,

Heidfeld would finish 2nd, 4 times this season.

Kovalainen with the Fastest Lap on Lap 43. He deserved more than 5th.

BMW were veye Strong this season such a shame they didn't continue the Development of the 2008 Car! Was a stupid decision they just faded away outnof contention because they didn't continue the development of the Car. They Focused on the Development of the 2009 Car but they messed it up Totally! The 2009 car wasn't any good it was a Massive Step Backwards compared to 2008!

They had a chance in winning the Championship in 2008 they should of continued the development of the 2008 they probably would of won the Championship maybe. But they concentrated on the 2009 car which was a big mistake because they messed it up Totally!

2008 season one of the best.

This was a terrible season for Raikkonen, worst one maybe alongside 2014( as a Kimi fan). One of the worsts title defending seasons in the last 30-40 years, but Ferrari is also to be blamed for sabotaging him

I didn’t like Legard, James Allen was much better.
