Paul Simon never gets old, loviu since I was a little girl and came across the S&G songs.

We played 'Late in the Evening' back when I was in high school marching band. This song would have been even more fun to play. Great tune.

Being a drummer myself, I like this song for " obvious" reasons

Those drums open something up primal and pure in my subconscious.

It's easy to tell that this was filmed in Brazil from the opening scene featuring the capoeira - brought to Brazil by enslaved people, primarily from west and west-central Africa. These elements were recombined and reinterpreted within the diverse enslaved community of Brazil to create a unique means of self defense, both driven and disguised—as merely a dance—by its musical accompaniment. Slavery was abolished in Brazil in 1888, but capoeira continued to flourish within the Afro-Brazilian population, particularly in the northeastern state of Bahia.

Was in mucuge bahia 2002 and that band was playing in the square. Magic.

Great song... Like Diamonds on the soles of her shoes though the choreography with the hand movements is a bit annoying.. Why not let just let them do their own thing..

THE RHYTHM OF THE SAINTS isn't quite as revered as GRACELAND, and like others, I'll listen to GL over RHYTHM any day. However, as much as I love that 1986 album, "The Obvious Child" is so ridiculously strong that it single-handedly beats everything on GL. I never get tired of hearing those drums and that melody. And Paul's lyrics about Sonny during the slowed-down portion of the tune eventually hit everyone with bittersweet nostalgic feels.

Five stars for "The Obvious Child."

I actually enjoyed Rhythm of the Saints more than Graceland. They're both great albums, but the Latin beats won the battle.

Meu pai escutava essa música várias vezes quando eu era criança. Nas minhas lembranças eu lembrava somente da bateria e um pouco do ritmo. Passei anos e anos procurando até que em uma manhã o nome do cantor veio em minha mente do nada. Quando achei, até chorei de tanta felicidade.

The rhythm tracks are performed by Grupo Cultural Olodum, a drumming collective ("bloco afro") directed by "Neguinho do Samba" (Alves de Souza) and also signed to Warner Bros. It, like many songs on The Rhythm of the Saints, was recorded live in the streets of Pelourinho Square of Salvador, Brazil in February 1988. Microphones were hung from windows or on telephone poles to capture the performances. According to Simon, "Hundreds of people gathered. It was an amazing day — an amazing recording experience." The vocal track was recorded at the Hit Factory in New York City.

My music producer friend introduced me to the Paul Simon when we were 16 and I've been hooked ever since, Such good memories hanging out in his basement blasting Paul Simon. I wanna throw my friend some love as we've been through a lot together try searching Lonely Gimmick - Beaches, it's his latest single and it gives me Paul Simon vibes, I'm honestly so impressed with it, its one of those songs that makes you happy when you listen to it
