MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU! this really was the Duel of Fates for several reasons and it has deeper meaning than you would think. Darth Maul uses the Dark Side to gain power from feeding on others fear and anger. Quagon Gin was meditating so he had no negative emotions then he would have won but then Obi Won was on the other side of the force field afraid of Quagon dying and Darth Maul fed off that to win. Then Obi Won did strike out in anger at 1st so Darth Maul was winning again but at the very end it was the opposite of the Dark Side. Obi Won remembered Quagon's teachings and cleared his mind of negative emotion so Darth Maul had nothing to feed on and that is why Obi Won won the fight.

I love how the Jedi council sends qui-gon and obi-wan after the first sith encountered in a millennia with ZERO back up.

Darth Maul is a Zabrak, a race from the Dathomir system. His appearance is how his race looks, they don't all have the red and black skin or the same amount of spikes though. He's the first one that was seen in Star Wars as far as I know.

This was such a fun reaction! ^_^ I love this movie, especially the world building of Tatooine. A world way too far away from the Republic for centralized law? The mob runs things. Things are awful and people are miserable? Distract them with bloodsport like Pod Racing, similar to the Roman colosseum games. Wanna free the slaves? Not that simple, since the Hutt mob 'keeps the trains running' and keeps crime organized and not as brutal, and solving socio-economic issues isn't as simple as "kill the bad guys," even if they are horrendous slavers who deserve to die. Love it so much, George did a great job.

Darth Vader did bring balance to the force at the very end because he threw the emperor down in the hole to explode. So at the very end of Darth Vader’s natural life, not force ghost life, but natural life did bring balance to the force.
