My dad grew up in Oregon. My dad's parents grew up in southern Illinois in the coal mines. My grandfather volunteered for the Marine Corps after Pearl Harbor and eventually ended up in Eugene, Oregon where my father and aunt grew up.
My dad joined the Airforce in 1964, not long before the military became much less popular. He had three duty stations, South Carolina, the Azores, and California.
He settled in the town near his last base, Travis AFB because it was near Fairfield which was the most integrated city in the country. Being strongly anti-racist this was important to him.
And so I grew up with my sister in "Steinbeck Country" in California.
As an adult I mover around a bit at the start, but ended up settling in Oregon not far from where my dad grew up.

the one thing that always gets me on this topic, and issues that this file also shares, is the assumption that the map of the earth looked the same as it does now, a million years ago. if we looked at the migration map of humans leading out of Africa a million years ago, the lay of the land will be a major factor.

"Out of Africa" now being well dead and buried makes this a hard bit of misinformation to allow. Seems that sub-saharan Africans have a "ghost species" (which makes up to 20% of their DNA) which white peoples do not. If we all came from them, we too would have it, yet we do not. Also, if we had all come from a single couple we would all have the same blood type. This presentation is little more than fantasy, if not intentional lies.

This video makes me both happy and angry.
Happy because it vindicates my hypotheses from decades ago, when I was still in my late teens in the 1980’s.
I was (and am) a nobody in science, I have only a mildly higher IQ than average (137), at the time only one year at a community college, so no degree or academic accomplishments beyond graduation from a solid, but not famous for national rankings… high school.
Most programs on TV about this sort of subject had the “experts” interviewed, still hinting towards “the” migration or maybe two or three, and THE lineage that made it to Europe and Asia, etc. etc…
Which I thought immediately was painfully limiting and unreasonable.
…and yeah yeah, I know more research and digging and thinking was going on than what they reported on TV, and if we look closer we’ll find others at the top of that game heading in this direction even back then or earlier. Or at least I sure hope so.
However, again… I was just some kid with nothing encouraging me, and definitely no specific tools of academia to help me figure there was likely countless migrations of primates, of countless forms.
Why did I think of this theory over 30 years before this video? By simply looking around.
I used very loose but likely statistics in my head, probability from glances of observations.
I already noticed some animal families that emerged well after the dinosaur great extinction, and supposedly long after the continents were in one big clump, were far from where they likely started.
The primates of South America for example. Several scientists were so quick to point to the “land bridge” between Asia and N. America to solve so many things… but I noticed there wasn’t an ancient record nor current record of primates in N. America besides very late arrivals of hominids, but primates were all over the place in S. America.
I also noticed homo sapiens could breed with each other no matter how different looking we are. Think of an Alaskan native and somebody from the Masai tribe.
Both homo sapiens, plus all the other homo sapiens don’t know how they got there, and clearly needed physical differences for survival… not just fashionable breeding. They didn’t survive in these extreme places on invention alone. They needed those tweaks in physical traits to keep existing before they invented more ways to continue with some comfort.
They likely did not all migrate from only inventing boats LOL.
Also, many other types of animal families were represented across the globe, after Pangea or Gondwanaland.

That told me the lands were changing far more often than we estimated, many times over, and hominids of all sorts MUST have spread out in all sorts of forms, successfully and sometimes cut short.
I figured the only way for all these other animals without boats and amazing swimming skills to have existed for so long, so far apart from each other, was for multiple chances and enduring opportunities for migration on foot.
Therefore, even if you don’t YET find the evidence… it’s likely that many many primates of all sorts likely traveled as well, and not all at once in a hurry. It was like life usually is; sometimes catastrophic, forcing evacuation, but more often at an energy-saving pace, wandering towards what’s more comfortable.
So the video makes me angry as well, because I understood this and could explain it even better in 1987 than I can now… and I received no credit, no status, respect, prize money, starting salary etc. etc…
because I was a nobody and with no credentials.
No I didn’t have all these gaps filled mentioned in the video, but my logic was steering me in a better direction than most of the “experts” I heard at the time.
Life. (sigh)

This is so dumb and so superficial. But, of course, this is about maintaining the narrative of the African origin of all humans. Of course, you have to tell this narrative again and again and again like preachers and priest tell all those narrative to maintain their ideological system. Yes, you are preaching an ideological system. Therefore it is not science but ideology.
Did you ever think of turning around the well known hypothecial migration paths and see how that would fit. No, of course not! Did you ever think about the necessity as the main cause for change, evolution and invention? No, of course not! Did you ever apply the latter to evolution of humankind? No, of course not. While greatest challenge for apes in Africa was the decision of which banana or organe to eat, there were must harder challenges for apes in Europe and Asia and these challenges needed intelligence to successfully deal with.
According to your ideology, intelligence evolves from not doing much in a paradise like environment with almost no challenges.
Yes, of course, you must support this ideology because living in a paradise like environment with almost no challenges comes muc hcloser to your environment than a harsh environment with challenges that need intelligence to successfully deal with.
Parroting ideologies is easy especially when well paid.
It's much harder to put real thought into things. So you intelligent being choose parroting and getting paid.
