I preffered using blender for 2d animation but there was too many features and too confusing. The 2d effects didnt work as well as i hoped(that was the main reason i chose blender for 2d animation and i also use it for 3d animation) so i switched to krita because it was simplier and i also make backgrounds there

I prefer to use Adobe Animate for animation and edit with Adobe Premier.
I am not a beginner. I have been working with Flash for more than 20 years, it is a very convenient and logical program.

I was using pencil 2d on this big project I was working on. The best I've done, it had pure animation, 2 point perspective, actual audio. But some thing happened it's file got corrupted some how. It's gone now, all that work. I'm trying Krista now

I’ll give my opinion on this. I will be excluding Blender, Toon Boom, Moho, sketchbook, and TVPaint because I’ve never used them, although I REALLY want TVPaint. It’s just too expensive for my parents to want to invest in. They already bought me the entire adobe suite, and paying $50 a month, so I shouldn’t complain. Anyway, my top choice out of Flash, Opentoonz, photoshop, and CSP is Adobe Animate. It’s not the best, but I’ve definitely gotten used to it, and I’ve grown to like it better then I ever did. However, if I couldn’t use it anymore, I’d use Opentoonz. Opentoonz is absolutely amazing. I haven’t used every feature because I never had to, but it is phenomenal.

Gotta love the pricing strategies of these types of creative tools. No wonder artists are struggling.

Krita is basically 2d version of blender, it's free, and really good.

Dragon Bones is awesome!

Another thing about OpenToonz, Studio Ghibli actually uses the software for their movies

Personally I bounce between Opentoonz and Blender grease pencil.

They are pretty darn good for animating and you can't beat the price!
