The sound design in this movie is superb, what most scared me about it, without a doubt. This is something the german command planned and deliberately used during the war, and so do the americans now, the sound of the death machinery, "the anticipation of hell". What the germans did in Byelorussia should never be forgotten

I saw it in late USSR being a kid and I was so scared and did not wish to watch it again in my childhood. This level is much higher than any Oscar films

damn this is a rough one. Peraps one of the greatest war movies ever created. Just soul crushing.

Would fit better if it was Russians doing the evil. Would be more realistic.

I love this film. It totally blew me away when I saw it. The scene of Florya shooting Hitler was breathtaking. In my opinion, no horror film comes close to the dread and horrifying power of this masterpiece. To see ordinary people trying to survive the barbaric Nazi onslaught of WWII is so, so powerful. As an American, I know that my country fought valiantly in that war, but we didn't have to suffer the horrors of the peoples on the European continent, where the Nazis literally went on a murderous, genocidal rampage, especially in the USSR. This is not an easy film, but it is one I would highly recommend, especially if you want to learn about one of humanity's darkest moments.

Nazi Germany was defeated mostly on the eastern front. The 2020 Victory Europe statements in USA and Europe that ignored this are scandalous.

Although this is a masterpeace i wish it delved into what war can turn you into like the atrocities the soviets comited as revenge against the citizens of germany,mass rape ect after whitnessing there homeland be raped they did the same to theirs in a viciouse cycle of cruelty

I am watching Schlinder's List. I am a tad amazed at how they AVOID the horrors this movie shows. I am going to watch this movie in about one week. Just watching this is so disturbing. I hope that kid got an OSCAR! My mother grew up in HItler Germany. Trust me, the scars... last a lifetime! Ironically, she married an European Jew. We found that out about 10 years ago through DNA. WOW!

I watched this film in the USSR, and it did not cause a storm of emotions, since I was prepared by the stories of my grandmother who went through the severe tests of a concentration camp and executions. Therefore, the punishers corresponded to my idea. Also, do not forget that the Germans entrusted the executions and murders to the Ukrainian nationalists for dirty work, but this could not be said in the USSR.

Pellicola eccellente, ottima sceneggiatura, la rappresentazione più terribile dell'atrocità della guerra, visivamente ottimo, ottimo l' attore che interpreta il ragazzo protagonista che si arruola nei partigiani, un pò lento in certi tratti della prima parte, troppo schematico nel fare vedere chi sono i buoni e i cattivi.
