Awesome fly you made , love it so simple to make and it catches fish that’s fantastic , I’m going to have to make a few myself now lol , I haven’t done much fly fishing and never used a striker indercater , any chance you could do a video on maybe making one and useing them for beginner and new fly fishoes , awesome video now I,m off to make some little grub flys. 👍
ОтветитьA maggot.
ОтветитьBack when golf balls were wrapped in rubber beneath the outer coating, we used to make these and then tie them off the at the head with black thread. They worked awesome in the Colorado Rockies.
ОтветитьSuperb !!!
ОтветитьGreat technique what IS thé size of your rod and fly Line please ? Thanks
ОтветитьMore float fishing on a fly rod. Sinful
ОтветитьDecent mate 👌, where abouts is this fishery?
ОтветитьHey Mate The cool thing about making that fly with a rubber band is that you can find many other colors of a rubber band to do that with and you can get more creative with that adding beads and hackle and such its endless what you can do with that ,,,,,I LOve that Thanks for this Video Cheers
ОтветитьYou were talking about how often they take the indicator. Try using a floating fly with a styrofoam body as the indicator, use a heavier leader to it and use tippet material tied with an improved clinch knot to the bend of the hook and attach a wet fly to that. It lets you fish dry and wet at the same time.
ОтветитьNothing new, I already made them in latex twenty years ago ♠
ОтветитьIf you use an "indicator" to suspend a fly at a certain depth, it is a FLOAT, not an indicator.
Flyfishers tend to say this to make themselves feel special and sophisticated.
A bit of a laugh!
nice!
ОтветитьI bet Carp & Chub would both munch on that fly too
ОтветитьI can't tell you how many times I've said "Oh crap" while fishing
ОтветитьHi, I’m planning my first ever trip to Scotland and I’m trying to find out more about the fishing. As well as the fly fishing, are there day ticket venues for course fishing too that aren’t silly money? I was given a fly rod and reel recently fully loaded and ready to go, so I’d like to give that a go too. I’ve looked online but most places I found are too bloody expensive, granted they include being able to take two fish but I’ll be on holiday so I won’t be faffing about cooking trout. Can you recommend a good lake or two or river for cheap day ticket? Or even better .. free😊
Cheers
Nicest looking maggot/water bug I've seen in a long time. Very nice instruction on how to tie also.
ОтветитьSuperbe idée, l'élastique pour faire une mouche noyée, je vais le faire, mais moi, je vais y ajouter une goute de vernis a ongle rouge sang pour la tète, car c'est très attractif le rouge en rivière ou en lac
ОтветитьMakes me laugh when guys float fish but say they're fly fishing...
ОтветитьStop watching when misuse God's Name
Ответитьunfortunately your video is very quiet when you are tying the maggot.
really nice lookin maggot fly and nice idea :)
I've tied them, they work, but they do not last very long. UV breaksdown the rubber and only after a few weeks and it falls apart, even if they're unused. It's not just a whim,it's many different brands, and even colored bands, they all fall apart. I haven't tried coating them in a UV resin, but it should help. There's also silicone bands, but I haven't tried them.
ОтветитьLooks like a wax worm…….Trout kill it!
ОтветитьThis would probably work well with panfish because it looks like a grub worm.
ОтветитьGreat video good footage of the indicator going under which was great to see new sub .
ОтветитьGood stuff!!
Ответитьput a hook on the indicator?
ОтветитьNice little video! Cheers.
ОтветитьNice share ❤
ОтветитьI'd epoxy that and it would probably last really long
ОтветитьI cant wait until the ice is gone... I'm in Northern Alberta, Canada..
ОтветитьAdded my 2 cents from the states that looks just like a fat bee moth good job
ОтветитьTry heat shrink electrical tubing for big streamers winks
ОтветитьYes so did i in the early 70s
ОтветитьA very clever idea. You could go out and buy some multi-coloured elastic bands to make different types of maggot flies. Pink would make a good maggot fly.
ОтветитьWhere are you fishing meaning the name of the water cheers
ОтветитьPaint a red head onto it it works even better
ОтветитьStone fly nymph, turkey tail with glue wing case, dubbing thorax, hackle legs, quill tail, rubber band abdomen, on a river that’s a bit rocky. Absolutely deadly. Best fly I have in my box. Don’t need any wire, but in really fast or deep water, it’d be a good idea.
Ответить日本から見てます。
ОтветитьHoly moly how did it suddenly start pouring like that within 3 seconds?
ОтветитьIt looks f all like a fly.
ОтветитьI want to visit Scotland for flyfishing and malt whisky esp. Islay.
ОтветитьLiked and subscribed 👍🏴
Ответитьwait until they discover strips of latex gloves over a colored thread body +/- lead wire for weight
ОтветитьSVP, ce qui manque a votre vidéo magnifique, c'est de ne pas avoir détailler le matériel plus précisément, car j'ai dus improviser, et je ne sais pas si mes montages vont marcher
ОтветитьAwesome where can I buy these ?
ОтветитьWhat rod & reel & leader setup with indicator please. Nice video too.🧑🌾👍🎣🐟
ОтветитьRubber bands break down pretty quickly, so only tie a few as needed.
ОтветитьNewt week matching the hatch at a rainbow trout fishery with the discarded floating cigarette butt, cool looking grub rubber bands are a fantastic fly tying resource.
This is where a good waterproof jacket with a tight rod wrist guard to stop water running up your arm is good , never stop fishing in that hard rain it breaks the surface tension and allows stuff that's caught in the film to drop , May on corrib , Storr Lochs and a good number of other lochs I fish , with that kind of showers (as long as it's not in company of thunder and potential lightning ) that's when you get some heavy takes , as the heavy showers knock all the suspended emerging flies and also for the stronger flies it breaks the tension and allows them to also emerge onto the surface , buzzers, mayflies , the hatch of the moment etc but a lot of stuff gets knocked back down, under the water , all those emerging nymphs either have to make their way back to the surface or those part emerged drown and float back to the underside of the surface tension easy picking for the trout , so a fat grub arriving in amongst all that would be very attractive to a greedy trout. ,
Was this during winter/cold spell
ОтветитьHi Craig, I’ve just found your channel and duly subscribed… the grub fly looks great, don’t tell anyone but I’ve copied it and will give it a go tomorrow at Testwood in the south of England, thanks for a great video, I wish I knew your secret for getting such high viewer numbers, I would love to grow my own channel but can’t seem to get the views… any prompt to help an expat would be greatly appreciated.
