Another tip, while you are sick, injured, and especially sick with the virus, if you stay full you will recover slightly faster. The virus sickness is easy to catch, but with the mod of not turning, it takes a couple weeks to recover from it. It’s very frustrating. Especially if it happens early on before peak population, you spend that time making a solid base but no looting since you are much less able to fight while sick and injured. My current run happened just like that. Before I knew it the insane population crept in while I was recovering and base building at the fit station in redwood. Muldraugh was ridiculous. I remember I spent several days just on the main road fighting. Granted I had a fallout power armor suit on, with 300 points worth of traits, and it was still difficult. Also, your next try, definitely get scrap weapons mod. The scrap nightstick with scrap shield is absolutely amazing. However the downside to the scrap nightstick is it cannot be attached to back or sides.

The maximum population you can have is 16x population. Population Multiplier, Start, and Peak all add up together. So when you say "The maximum it can be", this is it.

Setting "Start" to anything below 1 will lower it. With your current settings at day 28, you will have a 5x multiplier. I'm 90% sure about this one. I could be wrong! However, I'm 100% sure the Pop Start and Peak all add towards a final population.

If your computer can handle it, try 4x/4x/4x on peak day 1. That's why you see some streamers with 16x population on max sprinters going for world records, like B4NSTER and Mister_LampreyUK.

You can also get a mod that adds more rarity to loot tables, like "Rare, Extremely Rare, and Insanely Rare" those make things pretty fun.

Yeah people remember that he isn't a zomboid veteran that does everything to make the game hard, the mods makes the game easier, but the game is already so hard and the winter season is a huge debuff, challenging in so many aspect, good that you managed to survive that long.
Multihit is a huge buff that makes the combat more easy but i feel it's balanced with some sprinters.
A recommendation is to take more fitness and keen hearing, try it out and see how good it is. It's like a nice radius of sight around you, also the increased volume is really nice for hearing zombies that are hidden in the forests.

great video!!! i still consider myself a zomboid noob, but that encounter of you being lunged at by 2 sprinters and getting kinda wrecked reminds me of my first time playing: i was still figuring out the combat and was playing with a friend. we'd been playing for MAYBE 20 minutes, i had no weapon, and we got swarmed. i remember freaking out and getting a status that said "imminent death" and i panicked and just kept reapplying bandage after bandage after bandage. somehow, i survived and we were able to take down the, admittedly, small horde.

its stuff that like that makes zomboid so great. i will never forget that feeling of pure excitedness of being lost and panicked but somehow making it out, and this video definitely makes me wanna try getting better at this game and playing some crazy modifiers like this. love your commentary style, and excited 2 see more zomboid stuff from u!!!

I don't think we can call it 100% hardcore without zombification. I understand extra points at start but taking away zombification is just taking away this bare moment when for example you are bitten day 95 and "If I will be able to not be a zombie until day 100". That would add something extra spicy if that situation would appear

It's actually really easy to just "survive" in this game. Start West Point and run west to the 3 lone houses. Zombies don't spawn in this area (or extremely rare). Clear the houses and forage and fish for 100 days. Easy.

Kinda remind me of Winter is Coming challenge, but much MUCH more hadcore.

Being from this area of Kentucky, discovering this game; and watching other people play it and make comments on us is just hilarious. You get a sub, sir.
