Tax Brackets Explained For Beginners in The USA

Just to clarify because some people are confused and they're saying that I did not mention "the standard deduction". This video is about how "tax brackets work", not about "how taxes work". The starting point for tax brackets is "taxable income" not gross/total income (total income minus deductions = taxable income). I will make a video about "how taxes work" in addition to this video about "how tax brackets work".

Wow taxes really are lower in the US! In the UK we are at 40 from £37,700 upwards! And 45% from £150,000 upwards.

Thank you! I just became a 1099 recently and am trying to figure this all out. I appreciate your videos. I'm a fan of the flat tax system and how it incentivizes upward progression, particularly when those nations provide pathways up and assistance below like Sweden. However, the US could not possibly move into a flat tax system without a massive upheaval. I just don't see it.

I should send this to my family. I make more money than them and they think I’m dumb for working overtime because “I’m just giving that money to the government”. Poor people logic.
