I had a 1978 Corolla sport coupe back in 1994-95. I was shocked that car went from Phoenix to Los Angeles across the desert no problems in 116 degree heat with the A/C blowing cold. I fell in love with Toyota❤. I had a 76 Celica ST, 78 Corolla, 82 Celica GTS, 87 Celica GTS and a 2011 Prius. All were good cars for its time. I’m currently saving for a 2024 Corolla LE AWD hybrid. to be my last vehicle. I was 27 when i got my 1st Toyota, I’m now 63. I’ve learned nothing beats Toyota’s reliability and dependability.

I love both Honda and Toyota cars. Their the only 2 car brands I buy

Unless you mention Chevrolet but only 2006 and under years since they went downhill….🎉

Just got the base model 2024 Toyota Corolla LE. Brand spanking new with 4 miles on the ODO. Starts up with a key and drives like a dream. 30+ miles per gallon is insane! I plan on keeping this vehicle for 10+ years if it will let me. I plan on 5k oil changes (despite the dealer recommending 10k).
I’ve never been more proud of a purchase. I know Scotty would be proud too 😂

With regard to 2014 Corolla radio not working. The touch screen can give out. Had this happen. The outer screen can be replaced for about $30. If you are a handy person you can replace it yourself and save a bunch of money.

Hey purchased used 93 Corolla no issues
Later sold to my sister who had it for 23 years.
Infrequent oil and trans fluid changes. Lot of rust . It finally blew up and went to salvage with little over 300,000 miles. It was a very forgiving vehicle.

Thanks, my brother suggested looking at a 2012 Honda Civic that's just barley in my price range. It might break the bank but if it's really that reliable, I might get it assuming someone doesn't beat me to buying it.

I'll just avoid going to major cities with it to avoid theft issues.

I prefer the sportier Civic. Not a fan of the cvt however both makes have at as standard. The Corolla's looks are sporty as well but the Civic even more so on the interior.

Been a Toyota fan for a while. But the 2024 civic is way nicer than the Corolla. Corolla has no room in it…like the center console is way to small…but the seats are comfy for a compact car…. My vote as of right now is for the civic. Just wish they were cheaper

Worked for a very large rental company. The Corolla was the most profitable car in the fleet. After twenty thousand kilometers the Corolla's still looked and drove like new inside and out. The equivalent Hyundai yeah not so much. Nor did they pull the return at sale time that the corolla did.
You should do an article on all the BMW's and Audi's that get sold as " Company Demo's" that are really X rentals. It's a disgusting rip off.

Scotty failed to mention how reliable the 2001 honda civic ex 5 speed is. I have one and absolutely no major problems. The electric windows are original and replaced the clutch at 93.000 hard miles. Major issue takata airbags replaceed. I can drive the car at higher speeds and not burn any oil. 127.000 miles and original radiator and alternator. Water pump went at 75.000 miles. Best car ever owned. Yes and axle replaced 2 twice.

Hey Scotty
My name is Andrew. I have a Toyota Corolla 2011. Every thing is falling apart. The rubber around the window are ripped and I have to push the glass up to bring it up. And I have to take my car to a mechanic because the idle goes up and down and my RPM. It has 180,000 miles on the car

I just bought a 2005 Toyota Matrix XR 5-speed manual. It was built in Ontario so the miles driven are in kilometers as well as the speedometer being in kph first and then mph. It used to be a lease vehicle and the driver never changed the oil so it ruined the engine. The dealer had put a brand new engine in it, so even though the car has 120k miles on it, the engine only has about 90k miles. Bought in BC and brought down here. The only thing I need to do it have an Android Auto radio in it and I'm set! I bought this car for $5000 exactly and it's in excellent condition!

Don't buy an 07 through 09 Toyota Camry as the brake actuator (computer module) can go out at around 100,000 to 110,00 miles.
