The suction is to pull the air out of the cracks so the resin could be pushed in and even then it often doesn't go in really deep. The cracks themselves are within the glass and do not reach the surface. Sometimes drilling another hole at the end of the cracks allows you to use suction to pull the resin through (you'll need two kits) or pressure to push the resin through the crack but more often it's just a place to try again once your first incomplete try has hardened sealing the original impact area. The idea of drilling is to open a passage to the crack within the glass. The professional glass repair equipment can apply greater suction and greater pressure than the hand kits. Typically, the DIY kits are used to just stop the crack from spreading further. Unless you practice a lot and are willing to drill multiple small holes for additional injection points and or to allow suction and pressure to pull the resin through the cracks, you're not going to wind up with a good repair. Polishing the surface afterwards can smooth out the excess resin but that also removes the oil phobic coatings.

Been looking for a way to fix my old phone. The windshield repair kits work well on my cars ( got several cracks awhile ago ). Was thinking the same, do it on the phone. So now thanks to this video I safe some bucks and have to go back searching for another way 😁😁😁

Of course it won't work if you don't put it under a vacuum. That's a key part of the process.

This time use the uv lcd glue and stick tempered glass on top and don't remove the tempered glass.

I also call for a redo, not only to add pressure but also a screen protector before you put the stuff under the UV light, resulting in a screen protector stuck to cured windshield stuff (sorry I forgot what it's called)

Push a bit on the glue when aplying it to your cracks, so you wiggle the glass a bit. Then it get in between the glass.

@JerryRigEverything does it works for small scratches? I have a very tiny scratch but it's deep. Did you tried using more pressure?
