Dark Mode...you can do that just by d/l a "dark theme" for your Oreo. Not sure how much of the One UI becomes black. If there are some apps that won't do it.


Feb 4th...still waiting on the official Android 9/One UI upgrade here in Toronto for my Note 9...allegedly the day is now the 11th...for Rogers Note 9 owners...

How's battery life?

In the recent apps section, when you open an app's drop down menu (like you showed with split screen), you can lock an app. That way if you clear background apps (say while you're listening to spotify), you can lock your music and close everything else. Pretty cool feature to mention.

Hi Lorin, great video. There is one new annoyance that I havent been able to change since the upgrade to android pie/one UI on my Samsung S9. Since the update:

a) notifications on my home screen are now icons under the clock instead of the complete rectangle box which displays the content without having to tap an extra time.

b) waking screen using the HOME button when the phone is locked it is immediately showing unlock pattern without having the ability to read the notifications first. This means you cannot just read notifications when your phone is on the desk anymore like we used to.

did you notice this too and know how to fix it by any chance?

Hi why does galaxy s9 one ui andriod pie doesn't have change the icon of samsung music and galaxy store and samsung health. It doesnt update on one ui icon at all while all other apps change to samsung one ui icon?

Why is this Pie Version on Samsung looks totaly diferent to my Pie Version on Xiaomi?
The Menu is diverent and the Volume Button is on the Samsung Version still on the Top.
I only know Pie with Volume Button on the Right Side.
Are there two Version of Pie?

Having bug on keyboard option and calendar

You cannot record videos in PRO mode anymore in ONE UI. Samsung messed up by seperating the photo and video function and forgetting completely about video recording for Pro Mode

You can already make the pattern pin invisible without one ui

Since i updated my S9, i got large icons -.-

Just got mine today too.. they removed some filters from the pro.mode in the camera ughh lol

I received the update yesterday and activated everything that I wanted including gestures for back/home/recent. But I think recent apps works better with the button layout because with gestures you can't jump between apps or scroll through the apps in an efficient way. Maybe they could implement something like the iPhone X and pixel/OnePlus scroll

Samsung, the Motion Panorama and Pro mode in video recording are gone after the android pie update. Pls bring it back. We love these camera features very much.

since Note 2,3,4,5, iḿ a fan of those Samsung notes.All the devices were rootet and runs with a customrom,spezialy when the got older!
Now,with the N9 i dont know;shlould i root it,get a customrom for it?
The software since the last upday is great,less bloadware and stuff.There is at the moment no official TWRP for the device.And last but not least there are no amazing customroms for it.And if you root it,no guarantie,no Knox,no payapps are working correctly with root.
So,if i had an N8 i would do the rooting,maby then use it with a customrom fron the n9....
But with the N9 i thing its better to wait,for a TWRP,for the Note 10!??!
what do you think about that??

Very late Nonsense

I HATE HATE HATE Pie! And was reminded today of one of the reasons why. Was trying to change between the photo and video icons on the beach, and the sun pretty much made the screen unreadable, and I battled to swop between the 2 icons, and ended up missing vital moments. Then gallery has split itself into 2 sections, and even worse, if I make a new album, it slots itself in at the end of all the album, out of alphabetical order! Still haven't figured out how to open more than one Chrome page at a time - for example I'll be on Facebook, then need to look up a weather forecast via the phones icon. My Facebook page just disappears! If I wasn't so technically challenged, I'd swop back to Oreo😎😎
