The code in the US requires that the bottom of the opening must be within 44" of the floor.

Steel bucks set in spray foam was the way we install basement window bucks The bucks are made to be set inside the forms when the foundation is built but we have used them in retrofit. I just installed 2 - 4x4 units into my own home and the units look really good and there is no wood framing involved or the needed flashing and the windows are made to fit the buck. But the connection to the foundation is difficult and expensive because the bucks are hollow and we used a lot of spray foam to fill them and if I had to do it again ( I won’t ) I’d place ridged insulation inside the buck before it’s installed. The window well ,window buck ,slider window kit was made by Bowman Kemp I made the steel straps myself.
